Currently viewing: Lead Acid Battery Charging and Maintaining

The Battery Life Saver electronic device can be used in several ways to restore and maintain your automobile, SUV, RV, truck, farm equipment, tractor, golf cart, forklift, boat, solar systems and shore power applications. Basically any device that uses a 12, 24, 36, 48, or 72 volt lead acid battery system will GREATLY benefit.

We suggest you first read our BLS page to better understand why a battery deteriorates so rapidly.

Maintaining a Battery on a vehicle that is used almost every day

  1. To maintain a battery in top condition and prevent the buildup of sulfate on its plates use a BLS-12-A and keep it connected all the time (installed in the vehicle). Leaving the BLS connected continuously dissolves the buildup that weakens and destroys the battery. De-sulfating is easy with our product.

Simply connect the BLS to the battery terminals with the red wire going to the positive (+) terminal and the black wire going to the negative (-) terminal using the pliers type clips (included). Place it in a spot where it will not move around and let it go to work.

  2. Note: The Battery Life Saver electronic device is not a charger and it does draw a small amount of power from the battery. WARNING: DO NOT LEAVE IT ATTACHED FOR MORE THAN TWO OR THREE DAYS WITHOUT RUNNING THE VEHICLE! IT WILL DISCHARGE THE BATTERY.

  3. STORAGE: If the vehicle is to be stored for a time, i.e. RV's, motorcycles or farm tractors, a trickle charger (a low power charge of one or two amps output) should be used in addition to The Battery Life Saver electronic device. An ideal set up for this is our BatterySolver Package.

  4. To maintain an entire battery bank for a vehicle(s) with more than one battery, use the BLS-12/24-B or BLS-12/24-C as described in (1.) above.

Maintaining a battery on a vehicle that is not used every day or is stored

If you have more than one vehicle or don't use it often you will need a 12 volt battery charger for this method.

Attach a BLS-12/24-B overnight once per week along with a 12 volt battery charger. This will charge and condition your battery.

Here are some precautions to take when charging an automobile battery:

  1. Make sure to connect the leads from the charger in the correct polarity, positive to the positive post and negative to the negative post.

  2. Always wear safety glasses when dealing with or handling lead acid batteries.

  3. If you can check the water level on your battery do so before you begin charging. Add water before you begin charging (preferable), or add water after the battery charging is complete. Do not add water while the battery is charging.

  4. Always work in a well ventilated area.
